A Tale of Two Parents

The following is an illustration of one of the many differences between Mike and me.

Last Sunday, I was gathering up a few last minute things before heading off to church. Mike took the three girls and went ahead. I got to the building and walked into the chapel, and couldn't find Mike or our kids. I walked back out into the foyer to look for them. Over by the coat rack, I could see a baby sitting amidst a crowd of people hanging up their coats. I looked at that baby, and thought "why does that baby look so familiar?" And then I saw Mike pick her up. That was MY baby. I didn't recognize my own child.

Now let's compare this to Mike's experience.

Last night, Mike had study group for school. As he walked out the door, he mentioned that his study group was at the library. Well, Cass and Lily heard the word library, and immediately began begging me to take them to the library. They needed new books. So, I told them if they would hurry up and finish their dinner, I would take them to the library. I also thought it would be funny to have the girls peek in the window of the small meeting room where Mike would be studying. (Sometimes we get a little hard up for fun things to do) So, we went to the library, picked out some new books, and then went to find the room where Mike was with his Study Group. As we were standing outside the room, Maggie let out a sqwak. About a second later, Mike came out of the room to find us. Apparently, when Maggie had made a noise, he immediately told his study group "That sounds like my baby!" and he left the room to investigate.

So, to sum up: Mike has stronger maternal instincts than Nina

haha! That's cute. I often think Kevin has more maternal instincts than I do. I'm constantly asking him for parenting advice. (:

That's really funny. Sometimes I think Brian is a better mom than I am. I'm okay with that.

Maybe...but maybe as a mother of 3 little girls you have a million billion things on your mind at any given moment.

Wow, you're on a roll here...three new posts in two weeks?!? Love the stories. I have to say too, I love the shirts in your new header...it takes a real man to wear a princess shirt...especially in public. (does that mean I can get Jack the sparkly, gold, Dora Mary Janes he threw a tantrum over?)

I didn't realize Mike was in school--what's he studying?
