A weekend at the lake

Mike's family has a house up at Bear Lake that we go to frequently in the summer. We've been trying to get up there a few times this year, but we kept hitting road blocks - such as our car breaking down etc. I like it up there because Mike is so relaxed. I call this "Vacation Mike" He is at his best and happiest up in Bear Lake. We finally made it up there this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. The kids love it. They have so much freedom, and that is enjoyable for all. They can run hundreds of yards away and even into the lake with out my having to worry, because it is so flat, I can see them from anywhere. Mike's sister and her husband brought their horses this year. My daughters reacted in their typical fashion. Cass was apprehensive at first, but finally warmed up to riding on the horse for a bit. Lily would barely even touch the horse.

We loved playing on the beach. Mike is a world class sand castle builder. He and Cass played out on the beach for hours. I love watching the two of them together. They jumped the waves together, and splashed all over the place. Lily was of course, a little more apprehensive. She didn't want to play in the water very much the first day. By the second day she was better, and enjoyed all the beach activities. She especially liked laying down in the 3 inches of water, and practiced blowing bubbles.
Cass got to drive the boat with Grandpa, and was so impressed with herself. Mike was all about the water skiing and the wake boarding. We had to come home earlier than the rest of Mike's family because we had the imposing week long 5th birthday bash for Cass beginning the following day. It was such a nice and relaxing weekend. It was just over way too fast.
